March of Millions: A View From the Crowd

The filming of the MyPlace movie is being continued. The filming crew consisting of Dmitry Omel'chenko and Sergey Senatov is working with two case studies ("Nashi" and "Anarchists”) and capturing political activity of Russian youth.

The team responsible for making a movie for the project MyPlace started working. On April 25-28 they went to Tallinn. Project leader Dmitry Omel’chenko and researcher Anastasia Min’kova elaborate on the topic. 

CYS at the Smolny Readings

CYS researchers Anna Zhelnina, Natalia Fedorova and Daria Krivonos took part in the first student Smolny Readings. This was a student conference organized by the SPbU Department of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and it took place on April 21 in St. Petersburg.

Retreat Seminar of CYS and RC Region

On March 14-16, a CYS and RC Region retreat seminar took place at the Dacha camping site. Current research issues, as well as prospects of the main research activities of the centers, were discussed at the seminar.

“Russia’s Skinheads…” by Elena Omel'chenko, Hilary Pilkington and Al'bina Garifzyanova won the Alexander Nove Prize

The Alexander Nove Prize was established by BASEES in 1995. This is an award annually presented for high quality scientific work in the field of Russian, Soviet and post-Soviet studies. This time, the Prize was presented to Elena Omelchenko and Hilary Pilkington at the gala dinner at the end of the annual BASEES (British Association of Slavonic and East European Studies) conference, on April 1, 2012 at Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge.
